By L Umanand, year - 2014
ABSTRACT : AVR is a family of microcontrollers from Atmel Corporation. AVR 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers are available as (i) 32-bit AVR family, (ii) AVR XMEGA family (iii) megaAVR and (iv) 8-bit tinyAVR. These microcontrollers have reasonable computing power and efficiency that should suit a variety of applications. The development tools for the AVR family of microcontrollers is supported on MAC, Windows and Linux. The objective of this article is to set up the development platform for the AVR microcontrollers on linux platform using open source toolsets. This walk through is done on a Fedora 17/20 system. Students have tried it on few Ubuntu platforms too without problems.
